Each VLT model is certified by the ministère de la Sécurité publique’s Laboratoire des sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale before being put into operation. As such, their payout rates are verified, as is the integrity of the game modules and prize structure. In addition, each unit’s random number generator is checked, and the outcome of each terminal game is assured to be determined solely by chance.

Since 2003, a series of major changes have been made to VLTs so as to integrate mechanisms that are designed to sensitize players to healthy gaming behaviour.

Within establishments, as soon as a technical problem occurs, the site operator must immediately deal with the situation. If needed, the call centre is notified and a technician is dispatched on site. All VLTs can be deactivated locally or by way of the video lottery central system.
