In 2007-2008, Loto-Québec allocated $22 million to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, part of which serves to provide free treatment services to compulsive gamblers at some one hundred centres located throughout Québec. The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux received $3 million from Loto-Québec.
According to a study conducted by Université Laval's Centre québécois d'excellence pour la prévention et le traitement du jeu and the Institut national de santé publique du Québec, the number of potential compulsive gamblers represented less than 1% of the adult population in 2002. These figures are among the lowest in Canada.
