Diane Dufresne and Richard Langevin: a wall-to-wall tête-à-tête

It's impossible to escape the work of Diane Dufresne and Richard Langevin. From February 3 to May 9, 2010, it will be on wall-to-wall display at Espace Création.

Diane Dufresne's work is instinctive, impetuous, unexpected... always boiling over. Her art is the product of her life as artist, writer and painter. Dufresne captures this life in raw, uninhibited creations willed into being by her imagination and her memory. Our entrance into this art that defies definition, in which the steps of her artistic and existential processes intermingle, is abrupt. Once inside Diane Dufresne's head and heart, we are enfolded in the beauty of her reflections and creativity.

It's also the life of a woman whose universe is inhabited by her partner in life, Richard Langevin. The way "Angel", as Dufresne affectionately calls him, views his muse literally transports us. Through his music, Langevin creates an eclectic mise-en-scène. Through his writing, he builds a structure that supports our contemplation of Dufresne's work. He constructs luminous totems out of Dufresne's colours and frames her shapes in an avalanche of cubes. In other words, we are immersed in an exhibition that threatens to explode, teeming with previously unseen works, unusual installations, video-mirrors of confessed secrets, timeless artifacts and a drawing shed.

Seeing Diane Dufresne and Richard Langevin MUR à MUR is an experience not to be missed. Powered by all they have shared in the past, the collaboration of these two artists presents the viewer with their current feelings about the relationship.

Warning: Everything is new in MUR à MUR, especially the effect produced on those who dare to enter these walls! Coming into contact with Dufresne breeds creativity. You might even surprise yourself by making her a drawing...

"Why do we always feel that we have something to do instead of something to live?" Dufresne asks. Bound together tête-à-tête, Diane Dufresne and Richard Langevin are on wall-to-wall display, their art of living their answer.
