In August 2008, Loto-Québec began the installation of new self-serve ticket verification units at retailer locations. This extensive project was completed in April 2009, with a total of 8,760 units now in place. Easy to use, these devices enable consumers to check their tickets themselves and, if applicable, to confirm the amount they have won, thereby avoiding line-ups at the counter.
If your ticket is a winner, the unit displays the amount won and if required, instructions on how to claim your prize. If the ticket is not a winner, there is no further need to have it validated by the retailer.
Self-serve ticket verification units can be used to check terminal lottery tickets such as Lotto 6/49, Québec 49 and Super 7, instant (scratch) lotteries as well as passive (drawing) lotteries. Until already-printed instant and passive tickets have been sold, a red diamond will identify new tickets, indicating that they can be checked with the self-serve units. Eventually, all tickets will be able to be checked using these units.
Please note that the results of drawings are posted on the Loto-Québec Website, and are available at retail outlets in Loto-hebdo or by requesting a printout.
