Submitting a Portfolio

The Collection Loto-Québec invites professional artists working in the visual arts to submit a complete portfolio as part of the Collection’s contemporary artwork acquisitions program. The invitation also extends to galleries and artists’ agents. All portfolios consisting of contemporary art, photography, paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings and collages are eligible.

Selection criteria

• The relevance of the work must fit in with the Collection’s mandate, which is to foster contemporary art by Québec’s professional artists.
• The artists must have been born in Québec or have lived in the province for at least two years.
• The artwork must be original.
• The work must reflect the artist’s mastery of the technique employed.

The complete portfolio must include:

All content related to the submission, including texts and images, must be contained on a single CD:

• All presentation texts must be submitted in Word or PDF formats;
• All digital images must be provided in JPEG format. A maximum of 1 MB per image will be accepted.

This acquisitions program is limited by the physical constraints of the premises where the works are displayed. The physical conditions under which the artwork needs to be stored, as well as the work’s size, will be taken into consideration and may potentially affect the likelihood of their being acquired.

Each portfolio received is analyzed by the Collection’s curator. Incomplete portfolios, those sent by E-mail, those submitted as a PowerPoint presentation or those contained on DVD will not be accepted. However, DVDs may be used to contain JPG images of the works.
