Espace Création Loto-Québec presents Dyades - Inspiring meetings with seven contemporary artist duos

Montréal, June 12, 2012 − Loto-Québec's Espace Création is pleased to host the exhibition entitled Dyades from June 13th to September 3rd. In a collaborative effort with ARTV (in French only), forty works of art by seven artist duos from the Collection Loto-Québec will be presented to the general public in seven areas created around televised capsules aired on ARTV.

Original concept
Making their selection from a list drawn up by Collection Loto-Québec curator Louis Pelletier, six artists from the Collection identified their favourite from among up-and-coming artists (also Collection contributors) whose work they wished ARTV viewers to discover. For his part, Louis Pelletier visited Francine Simonin's workshop upon her invitation. In all, seven magical and inspiring meetings were captured on video.

This gave television viewers a chance to get acquainted with the following artists:

  • Louis Pelletier with Francine Simonin
  • Jean-Pierre Morin with Pierre Durette
  • René Derouin with Jérôme Fortin
  • Sean Rudman with Guillaume Massicotte
  • Marc Garneau with Jean-Benoît Pouliot
  • Carol Bernier with Jean-François Lauda
  • Susan Edgerley and Annie Cantin, at Espace VERRE

The exhibition
The Greek work dyade means duality or pair. Mr. Pelletier asked each pair of artists to create an exhibition space based on their respective works. Built around the aired televised capsule, the resulting pair production provides visitors with visions that are different from our contemporary world, yet complementary.

A contest
Over the summer, ARTV will call on exhibition visitors to participate in a contest to vote for their favourite. The work garnering the most votes will then be acquired by Collection Loto-Québec.

Dyades: original meetings, favourites shared, an exhibition to be seen with a friend!
